Jason R. AulaLOS ANGELES, California — On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the Signal Hill City Council held an in-person meeting.
Mayor Lori Woods made a proclamation to outgoing Vice Mayor Ed Wilson and presented the City of Signal Hill with the Centennial Time Capsule. The City Council approved the November 5th election results certified by Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder Clerk, Dean C. Logan. Signal Hill voters elected Lori Woods, Robert Copeland, and Charlie Honeycutt to City Council unopposed and Daritza Gonzalez was elected for the first time defeating Sonia Savoulian 3795 to 1431. Although the City Council election was unopposed, Charlie Honeycutt is the sole new member of the City Council with his term expiring in December 2028. Also, Daritza Gonzalez was democratically elected for her term expiring in December 2028 after her partisan appointment by the local Democratic Party in 2023 via Mayor Lori Woods & Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn. The City Council approved $70,146 for municipal food distribution programs and for Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps and sidewalk construction. City Council Members are compensated at a rate of $794.40 per month.
