City of Signal Hill seeks developers for Orange Bluff & Walnut Bluff

LOS ANGELES, California — On Tuesday, April 25th, 2023, pursuant to AB 361, the Signal Hill City Council continued to hold virtual meetings. 

Both properties total 10.6 acres and are owned by Signal Hill Petroleum. The City of Signal Hill and Housing authority have acquired $10 million in funding to develop affordable housing at the bluffs. Zoning laws permit up to 380 units on both sites. A portion of the acquired funding comes from the Gateway Cities Affordable Housing Trust. 

Mayor Hanson swore in the unelected city clerk Daritza Gonzalez. In addition, Mayor Hanson delivered a proclamation  to the staff of the Signal Hill Public Library in honor of National Library Week. 

The council conducted interviews for vacancies for Civil Service Commission, Planning Commission, and Parks and Recreations thru May 31, 2027. The candidates are to be reviewed on May 23, 2023 at the City Council meeting. The recruiting process for the appointed vacancies run by the City of Signal Hill is an open one.

City Council Members are compensated at a rate of $722.18 per month.
