Jason R. AulaLOS ANGELES, California — On Tuesday, December 13th, 2022, pursuant to AB 361, the Signal Hill City Council continued to hold virtual meetings.
As of Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, the appointment of Mayor Hanson per, Signal Hill City Council's authority shall stand. "I would say for the last maybe four reelections there’s always been a candidate who has talked about ‘we need new blood, we need to reelect somebody new,’” Mayor Hansen said. “And my response has been, every cycle, I look at what I’ve done on the council and what I still want to do on the council and whether I think that I have a valid viewpoint, things that I still want to do, am I reflecting the current state of our city. I really don’t just run without really thinking through these things. And there will come a time, and maybe the next election, where I decide the things I set out to do are on the right path, it’s time for somebody else to step in.” The City of Signal Hill had 60 applicants for the new City Manager position and selected Mr. Carl Tomaino. In addition, the city council confirmed the new elected clerk, treasurer, and councilmembers. The next regularly scheduled Signal Hill City Council Meeting will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 7:00 P.M. City Council Members are compensated at a rate of $722.18 per month.
