Jason R. AulaLOS ANGELES, California — On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Signal Hill City Council held an in-person meeting.
The council announced a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Recruitment for the commissioner is set for November 17 to December 15. The remainder of the vacant term runs through May 31, 2025. Mayor Hanson presented certificates to members of the Diversity Coalition Committee. Additionally, Mayor Hanson honored the Signal Hill Police Department with a proclamation for Law Enforcement Records and Support Personnel Day on November 14, 2023. The City Council authorized Signal Hill to enter into a Contract Services Agreement with MVP Security Systems Incorporated (MVP) per approval by the City Attorney for up to $122,865.00 for Access Control Systems (ACS) software and partial hardware upgrades for the Police Station, Library, and City Hall including a contingency of up to 10%. The Signal Hill Police Department was initially awarded a $90,000.00 grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). The program is used to fund traffic safety programs that counter driving under the influence and the award was increased by $30,000.00 per request to $120,000.00 total. The City Council entered into a Public Works contract agreement with TTS Engineering Incorporated (TTS) to construct the 33rd Street Water Main Replacement Project for 2,317,861.00 approved by City Manager Carlo Tomaino, including an additional $129,335.40 project contingency provision which funds originated from the American Rescue Plan Act. In addition, the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute and amend the agreement valid until June 30, 2024 with Long Beach Animal Control Services Bureau (LBACSB) for an additional $25,261.00. Also, the City Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a 90-day agreement with Vicon Enterprise Incorporated for $445,000. The agreement authorizes construction of the Fuel Station Canopy Replacement Project and includes up to a 10% contingency ($44,500.00). City Council Members are compensated at a rate of $722.18 per month.
